Mark Schmidt - Experienced in San Diego Real Estate and Film

The president of real estate development firm since 2021, San Diego resident Mark Schmidt manages a portfolio of more than 3,000 units. He leads the company in the planning and development of more than 4,000 additional units, including an 850-unit project for seniors. Charged with strategic leadership for Urban West, Mark Schmidt holds a bachelor of arts in business administration from SD State University.

Throughout his 30-year career, he has been involved in community organizations such as the San Diego Downtown Partnership, a non-profit working in advocacy, community investment, and public services to support economic prosperity among downtown businesses. His company also maintains membership in the National Association of Homebuilders, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, and the Urban Land Institute.

When he is not working, he enjoys hiking in and exploring national parks. He is also the founder of Liberty Studios, Inc., for which he wrote, directed, and produced the 2013 film Walking with the Enemy.
